Prairie Village's longest-running music event returns to Harmon Park on Sept. 12 when the Jazz Festival hits its 15th year.

The outdoor festival has featured jazz acts with Kansas City ties since its debut in 2010. This year's lineup includes trumpeter Brad Gregory, who played for the Houston Jazz Orchestra and worked professionally in New York City before moving to Kansas City. Gregory's group will be joined onstage by Clint Ashlock, artistic director and conductor of the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, according to the city's festival page. Glamour Profession, an 11-piece Steely Dan cover band made up of Kansas City jazz and rock musicians, is also on the bill.

The Prairie Village City Council approved the festival as a special event at its Aug. 3 meeting, authorizing alcohol sales within barricaded areas and granting a beverage waiver for Harmon Park.

Parking is different this year. Overflow spots that were previously available on the Mission Road Bible Church property are gone. The building was demolished to make way for Prairie Village's new city hall, a project the Johnson County Post described as a $30 million municipal complex at 7820 Mission Road. The city broke ground in July.

Free parking is available at Shawnee Mission East, Prairie Village Pool, Mission Bible Church and Community of Christ Bible Church. ADA parking and drop-off are at Prairie Village City Hall.

All food and beverage vendors, including a beverage sales tent, will be set up in the Harmon Park playground parking lot, according to committee meeting minutes from June 30. J.D. Kinney, the city's special events coordinator, chairs the festival committee.

The festival is a partnership between the Prairie Village Foundation and the city. Harmon Park is within walking distance for hundreds of Prairie Village households, according to the city.
