Lalli's, a women's clothing boutique at Leawood's Park Place shopping center, is set to close in late September after a three-year run.

Owner Susan Hatten announced the closure in an August social media post, saying the end of her three-year lease prompted the decision. The store's last day is tentatively set for Sept. 26.

"After a lot of soul-searching, I realized I'm ready for that next chapter," Hatten wrote.

Hatten opened Lalli's in October 2023 after moving back to Leawood from Chicago, where she had worked in advertising. It was her first business. She named the boutique after the nickname her grandchildren gave her.

The store sits at 5210 W. 116th Place on the east side of Park Place, near The Bar Method and Geno's Clothiers, the Johnson County Post reported.

A closing sale is underway, with everything in the store marked 25% off. A goodbye event is planned for Sept. 16.

Park Place sees steady turnover

Lalli's departure adds to a stretch of turnover at the shopping center near 115th Street and Nall Avenue.

Seafood restaurant Aqua Penny's closed on July 11 after roughly two years in business. Owner Doug Mufuka said in July that revenue was not enough to sustain the restaurant. The Mufukas still operate Bamboo Penny's at the same shopping center. French bistro Aixois also closed at Park Place in October 2025.

New tenants have filled some of the gaps. AR's Breakfast & Brunch, owned by Oscar Romero, opened at 11635 Ash St. on July 6, marking the restaurant's third Johnson County location.

Pilates Addiction, a fitness studio brand with locations in Florida, California and Michigan, is also planning its first Johnson County and Kansas City-area studio at 11560 Ash St. in the former Picasso Exotic Aquatics space. No opening date has been announced.
