Randall Stevens, 73, of Parkville, Missouri, died at a hospital after a four-vehicle crash Tuesday, Nov. 3, near West 107th Street and Nall Avenue in Overland Park.

Overland Park police said officers responded just after 10:40 a.m. to the intersection, which sits just north of Interstate 435 and east of Shawnee Mission South High School. Johnson County Med-Act transported Stevens to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later died of his injuries, according to KCTV5.

Stevens was driving a Honda at the time of the collision.

Preliminary findings from the Overland Park Traffic Unit indicate a westbound Mercedes-Benz ran a red light on West 107th Street, triggering a chain-reaction crash, police said. The Mercedes first struck Stevens' Honda, which was turning east onto 107th Street from southbound Nall Avenue. It then hit a Toyota turning west onto 107th Street from northbound Nall Avenue. The impact pushed the Toyota into a Volkswagen stopped at the red light on eastbound 107th Street.

First responders transported the Mercedes driver to a hospital in stable condition, KCTV5 reported. Occupants of the Toyota and Volkswagen reported no injuries.

The Overland Park Police Department posted on X shortly after the crash, writing, "Officers are responding to a fatality crash near W. 107th and Nall. Please avoid the area."

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information is asked to contact the Overland Park Police Traffic Safety Unit at 913-890-1516
