On the issues
The following positions are drawn from Hohe's campaign website, his BallotReady questionnaire responses and his interview with KSNT. All statements reflect the candidate's own claims.
National debt and government size: Hohe said reducing the national debt is his central campaign issue. He said the government needs to be downsized and that welcoming foreign companies to manufacture in the United States would widen the tax base and increase revenue. He also called for cutting spending, collecting on fraud and breaking up what he called the "D.C. Iron Triangle" of lobbyists, bureaucrats and politicians with special interests.
Tax reform: Hohe supports abolishing the current income tax system and replacing it with a flat variable percentage tax not to exceed 10% on employed individuals and a separate flat percentage on corporate profits. He also supports a "Flat Tax Prebate" in which a portion of revenues would fund education, healthcare and nutritional support for children, held in private accounts parents control.
Education: Hohe supports giving parents control of per-child educational accounts that follow the student. He described this as empowering parents with the "Power of the Educational Purse."
Economy and trade: Hohe said the United States should invite foreign manufacturers to produce goods domestically to expand the tax base and reduce tariff costs on finished goods.
Foreign policy: Hohe supports reducing federal power, taxation and overseas military involvement, according to Kansas Helen Substack.
