Harp Barbecue will return Saturday, Sept. 5 for a one-day popup in Kansas City, Missouri, three months after closing its Overland Park restaurant.

Owner Tyler Harp announced the event on Instagram, The Kansas City Star reported. The popup at Warehouse on Broadway begins at 11 a.m. and will feature ribs, burnt ends and signature sides.

Fans do not need a ticket to purchase food, according to the Instagram post. The Warehouse on Broadway website does list tickets available through Etix for the accompanying live music from local band Elwood and the Blues Masters.

Harp closed the restaurant at 12094 W. 135th St. in late May, citing staffing shortages, fewer customers and rising beef prices. The Kansas City Star first reported the closure on May 28.

Harp Barbecue started as a popup in 2019 before opening a permanent spot in Raytown in 2022. The restaurant crossed state lines to Overland Park in late 2024. During its run, Kansas City Magazine named it a top barbecue restaurant. Condé Nast Traveler writer Liz Cook wrote in a June 2025 guide that "If KC Barbecue has a New School, the dean might be Tyler Harp."

In a video with social media influencer Davis Roethler recorded around the time of the closure, Harp said barbecue would remain part of his life "in one way or another" without specifying future plans. The popup is the first public answer.

Harp has not indicated whether additional events or a permanent return are planned. Warehouse on Broadway is at 3951 Broadway Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64111.
